For my mom I'm getting the svc phone. The samsung T155 or whatever and we're gonna try that out. It looks like a really good phone for an elderly person because the numbers are so big on the buttons and on the screen. Also its hearing aid compatible so I guess we'll figure out how to work that feature. Altogether she'll probably be spending close to $7 a month with the svc plan.

kandykatty you made the right decision, got one of those for my mom too for xmas, and she is loving it.with tracfone svc you also have the 911 emergency locate assist, and a very reliable network coverage. very important for a phone that is supposedly used as an emergency phone. great value for money, and prepaid is just so much better than a long term commitment with a contract. no activation or cancellation fees with tracfone prepaid either
