Just5 CP11 Mobile Phone for Seniors at MWC 2011

Doro introduced a set of senior-friendly phones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but Just5 also made a splash at the show.

The Just5 CP11 cell phone for seniors citizens was also showcased at MWC 2011. This handset features a large display that pops out. It that sounded strange then let me elaborate. The CP11's display open stiletto-style when the two buttons on the sides of the phone are pushed.

Other than this unusual design feature, the Just5 CP11 offers all the necessary features for seniors. The 2.2″ LCD display is large enough to accommodate the weak eyes of many elderly users.

But that's not all, this mobile phone for seniors also offer a S.O.S. emergency button. This feature is interesting.Pushing and holding the emergency button results in text messages being sent to 5 pre-defined numbers. The Just5 CP11 will then start calling those 5 numbers until somebody picks up.

The remaining key features for this mobile phone for seniors include a loud-speaker, a radio, thermometer and a flashlight.

Here's a video of the Just5 CP11 in action.

That's it for this senior-friendly cell phone. Join us again next week as we preview more senior cellphones, plans and related topics.

Oh wow, from looking at the white phone in the first picture I never thought the screen wold be large enough for any elderly person to be able to read. Then I saw the video. Thats a pretty nifty trick but how much is that fancy feature going to cost? I mean, can that phone beat the price of svcs samsung t155? I think that phone already has everything a senior needs and it's only 15 bucks...

That flip screen is nifty indeed. But when unclefreddy talks about the costs of a svc phone, compared to that of any other provider to seniors, you have got to ask yourself, what am I getting extra, for three, more often than not, four times the price? Is the VAS really worth that much money?
